Resolution - Public Works Streets: Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Contract 17054, with Intermountain Slurry Seal, Inc., for the 2023 Micro-Surfacing Project.
Item Summary
This Micro-Surfacing Project is a surface overlay on top of the previous year of street maintenance with asphalt and concrete repair projects. The Micro-Surfacing Project provides an aesthetic, quiet riding surface with superior traction characteristics. This project will extend the life of these streets for an estimated 10 years before additional preventative maintenance is necessary.
The Micro-Surfacing Project for this year will be concentrated in central Lubbock in an area bounded by 19th Street, 34th Street, Avenue Q, and Avenue A. Additionally, 3 thoroughfares are included: Quaker Avenue between 24th Street and 50th Street, University Avenue between 98th Street and 114th Street, and 34th Street between Interstate 27 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
In response to RFP 23-17054-TF, proposals were received from Intermountain Slurry Seal, Inc. and VSS International, Inc., on January 25, 2023.
Staff completed an evaluation of these proposals on February 9, 2023, using the following criteria: 60 points for price; 30 points for contractor qualifications; and 10 points for time needed to complete the project.
