Resolution - Public Transit Services: Consider a resolution authorizing the Chief Financial Officer of the City of Lubbock to execute a Federal Transit Administration Section FY 2021 Section 5339(a) Grant, Project ID TX-2023-096-00, to be used for the purchase of ADA paratransit replacement vans.
Item Summary
The Federal Transit Administration has allocated $373,789 in Section 5339(a) funds to The City of Lubbock/Citibus. The funds will be used to purchase ADA paratransit vans to replace older vans that are past their useful life.
It was originally anticipated that the FY 2021 Section 5339(a) grant would be used to purchase five (5) paratransit vans; however, due to price increases after the grant application was submitted Citibus will be able to purchase two (2) vans, and the remaining grant funds will be combined with another grant for a third van.
Citibus was awarded 56,069 Transportation Development Credits provided by the Texas Department of Transportation that will be used for the local match for the FY 2021 Section 5339(a) grant.
Federal Transit Administration regulations require that all grants must be applied for and executed electronically.
Fiscal Impact
The local match required for this grant will be fulfilled by Transportation Development Credits provided by TxDOT. This grant will result in no additional cost to the City of Lubbock.
