Resolution No. 5614 Adopting The 2021 Maricopa County Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan For The City Of Chandler
Proposed Motion:
Move City Council pass and adopt Resolution No. 5614 adopting the 2021 Maricopa County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan for the City of Chandler, and authorizing and directing the various City officers and employees to periodically update the contact information set forth in the 2021 Plan and perform all acts necessary to give effect to this Resolution.
Background:
On March 11, 2010, the City Council approved Resolution No. 4376 adopting the 2009 Multi-Jurisdictional All Hazard Mitigation Plan for the City of Chandler. Over the past century, the City has experienced damage from natural hazards such as flooding, drought, severe winds, and other causes on many occasions, resulting in loss of property and/or life, economic hardship, and threats to public health and safety. The 2021 Plan specifically addresses natural hazard vulnerabilities, mitigation strategies, and plan maintenance procedures for the City of Chandler.
Discussion:
The Maricopa County Multi-Jurisdictional Planning Team has developed the 2021 Plan after more than one year of review, research, and update work. The 2021 Plan is an update and replacement for the previous hazard mitigation plan for the City of Chandler.
Financial Implications:
No financial implications.
