Subject:
Resolution No. 5627 approving an Intergovernmental Agreement for cooperative law enforcement training operations between the City of Chandler and the Town of Gilbert
Proposed Motion:
Move City Council pass and adopt Resolution No. 5627 approving an Intergovernmental Agreement for cooperative law enforcement training operations between the City of Chandler and the Town of Gilbert; and authorizing the Chief of Police, as Designated by the City Manager, to Conduct All Negotiations and to Execute and Submit All Documents Necessary in Connection with Such Agreement.
Background/Discussion:
The City of Chandler Police Department and the Town of Gilbert Police Department desire to enter into this agreement for the purpose of conducting joint law enforcement training or attending law enforcement training hosted by either agency. Such training may include, but is not limited to, recruit and in-service academy training and specialty schools for both sworn and civilian personnel.
The term of the agreement runs from the date of execution by both parties until June 30, 2027, whereupon it shall automatically renew for successive five-year terms unless either party terminates the agreement by giving thirty-days' notice to the other party.
Financial Implications:
No City of Chandler financial obligations are anticipated under this agreement. The IGA allows for the agencies' respective chiefs of police to enter into sub-agreements for individual training opportunities, wherein participation fees may be assessed or waived by the host agency.
