Subject:
Payment to Support the City of Chandler Radio System Infrastructure
Proposed Motion:
Move City Council approve the payment to the City of Phoenix, in an amount not to exceed $634,918, for FY 2022-2023 participation in the Regional Wireless Cooperative, including operations and maintenance costs, the system upgrade agreement, and narrow banding.
Background/Discussion:
The City has participated in the RWC since October 2009. This regional radio network provides seamless, interoperable radio communications for multiple public safety and government agencies within the Phoenix metropolitan area.
This agenda item provides for payment of the annual operations and maintenance (O&M) fee for approximately 1,036 City of Chandler portable and vehicle radios used by Police, Fire and other City departments. Payments to the City of Phoenix include $428,630 in annual O&M, plus an annual system upgrade assessment (SUAII) of $206,288 to provide software updates and ensure system compatibility.
Evaluation:
The City of Phoenix is the sole support for the regional wireless radio system. The operations and maintenance, system upgrades, and narrow banding associated with the RWC are only available through the City of Phoenix.
