Resolution - Engineering: Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Amendment No. 2 to Contract 15282, with Freese and Nichols, Inc., for providing engineering services for the design of the Downtown Sanitary Sewer Line Improvements Project and Major Sewer Line Condition Assessment and Repair.
Item Summary
Selected segments of the existing sewer system in the northern portion of Downtown Lubbock will need to be expanded and rehabilitated, in order to provide adequate wastewater collection capacity for future sewer flows in the area. The Wastewater Collection System Model indicated that the anticipated peak wastewater flows generated by the Buddy Holly Performing Arts Center, Citizens Tower, Police Headquarters, Lubbock Convention Center Hotel, and other proposed developments, would overload the existing infrastructure, causing potential sewer spills and overflows.
The original Contract 15282 for preliminary design services provided surveying, inspection of the existing sewer infrastructure, and a recommended solution and route for new and rehabilitated sanitary sewer infrastructure to serve the downtown sewer shed. The scope of work for Amendment 1 to Contract 15282 provided full design, construction contract documents, and bid phase services.
The scope of work for Amendment 2 to Contract 15282, will provide conditional assessment and full design of improvements to the Downtown Sanitary Sewer Interceptor and downtown sewer shed from the east side of I-27, to the Southeast Wastewater Reclamation Plant (SEWRP). Amendment 2 will increase the not-to-exceed amount by $949,704 and will add 0 days to the contract.
Fiscal Impact
$1,000,000 is appropriated in Capital Improvement Project 92701 Major Sewer Line Condition Assessment and Repair, with $949,704 available for this purpose.
