Resolution - Engineering: Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Amendment No. 1 to Contract 15015, with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for providing engineering services for the construction of the Low Pressure Supply Line Rehabilitation Project.
Item Summary
In recent years, the existing 24-inch low-pressure water transmission line that conveys water supply from Low Head B to Pump Station 16 along Quaker Avenue, has been experiencing reoccurring failures. Causes of the breaks vary from internal and external corrosion, to age-related structural weaknesses. This project will increase the pressure rating of the pipeline from 100 pounds per square inch (psi) to 150 psi, as well as increase structural soundness and extend the useful life of the 22,500 linear feet of transmission main.
On July 14, 2020, Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. was awarded Contract 15015 for the design of the Low Pressure Supply Line Rehabilitation Project. Amendment No. 1 will authorize the Engineer to perform Construction Phase Services during the construction of the project. It will increase the base contract by $129,100 and provide 420 calendar days to complete the services.
Fiscal Impact
This contract in the amount of $129,100, is funded in Capital Improvements Project 92659, Low Pressure Supply Lining.
