NOTICE OF MEETING CITY OF GARLAND, TEXAS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
A meeting of the Board of Adjustment of the City of Garland, Texas will be held Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 200 North Fifth Street, in the City Council Chamber, Garland, Texas.
A pre-meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 200 North Fifth Street, in the City Council Chamber, Garland, Texas. The agenda for the pre-meeting is the same as for the regular meeting, and may include additional items as set forth below. INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: It is the custom and tradition of the members of the Board of Adjustment to have an invocation and recital of the Pledge of Allegiance prior to the beginning of the meeting. Members of the audience are invited to participate. However, members of the audience are not required to participate. The decision to participate is strictly a matter of personal choice and has no bearing on matters to be considered by the Board of Adjustment and will not affect the decisions to be made during the meeting. |

A. | 22-MA-00015 3801 Ashville Dr Juan (Rudy) Solis, the owner of Lot 11, Block 8 in the Southgate Estates 2 Subdivision, more commonly known as 3801 Ashville Dr., is requesting permission to build a 8 foot tall wood privacy fence on this Key Corner Lot, and within the required side yard setback adjacent to Douglas Dr. Section 4.104(B) of the Garland Development Code (GDC) states fences may be erected in the required side and rear setbacks in all zoning districts provided the guidelines outlined in illustration 2-17 are followed. For this property, the recorded plat established the building line and side yard setback as 25 feet. Illustration 2-17, located in Section 2.72 of the GDC depicts that "No fences or walls permitted" within the required setbacks along and adjacent to the public streets for Key Corner Lots. A variance is required to allow the applicant to construct the 8 foot privacy fence within the 25-foot side yard setback adjacent to Douglas Dr. |
