Resolution - City Manager: Consider a resolution establishing a Citizens Advisory Committee to study and make recommendations regarding the street and roadway construction and repair needs of the City of Lubbock, and for a possible future bond election in connection therewith, and naming members to said Committee.

Item Summary

This item is a follow-up to ongoing discussions by the Lubbock City Council regarding a possible Street Bond Proposal. The City Council discussed the possibility of a Citizens Advisory Committee at the June 25, 2024 Council Work Session. The resolution allows the City Council to appoint such Citizens Advisory Committee with the charge to review, evaluate, and formulate recommendations regarding specific construction and repair projects and funding mechanisms including, but not limited to, general obligation bonds. The proposed resolution asks the Committee to work promptly and with the goal to return recommendations to the City Council at the July 23, 2024 regular City Council meeting. The resolution is drafted to establish a 13-member Citizens Advisory Committee. Each Council member will have two appointments and the Mayor will appoint the Chair.
