Council Seating Assignments

Background

Customarily, following the election of the Deputy Mayor, the remaining members of the Council select their preferred seats on the dais one at a time. The order for this is determined by continuous seniority on the Council. For members whose service began on the same date, the member who received the most votes in their election is given first selection, followed by the member who received the next highest total of votes, et cetera.

In accordance with this custom, the order for today's selection is as follows (to be adjusted as necessary based on the Deputy Mayor election):

Discussion and Approval of Council Rules

Background

While revisions to the Oshkosh Common Council Rules of Order can be considered at any time, historically the Council has reviewed and adopted their rules during the Organizational Meeting each spring. A copy of the rules, which were most recently amended and adopted on March 11, 2025, have been attached for reference. Also attached are two proposals for potential additions to the rules, which could be considered individually by Council before formally adopting the rules.

BACKGROUND

In accordance with Section 2-11(I) of the City of Oshkosh Municipal Code, the Mayor shall have the authority to appoint, subject to Council approval, members to the various Boards and Commissions within the City. As vacancies to the City's Boards and Commissions currently exist, the Mayor makes the appointments listed below for consideration by the Common Council.
