ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
City Commission approval to allow the Mayor to enter into an agreement with National Sign Plazas (NSP) for the placement of their signs in the City’s right-of-ways.
BACKGROUND
National Sign Plazas (NSP) signs will be placed at strategic locations throughout the City and are intended to replace the bandit signs that homebuilders place at key street intersections. The homebuilders will be able to rent a place on the NSP sign which eliminates the need for the numerous bandit signs.
ANALYSIS
As compensation to the City, we will be able to use a portion of the NSP signs to direct citizens to City buildings and facilities. In addition, there will be some monetary compensation to the City based on the actual number of signs that are rented.
Several neighboring cities including La Marque, League City, and Pearland are already utilizing the NSP signs.
