ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Consider and take action on Resolution No. 16-093, ratifying prior Texas City approval of an amendment to a treated water supply contract with Gulf Coast Water Authority. (City Engineer)
BACKGROUND
The City has a secondary water supply contract with GCWA that can provide up to 300,000 gallons of water to the Virginia Point area. In June of 2011, GCWA requested all customers approve an amendment to these contracts. The nature of the amendment was to release a series of water wells back to the City of Galveston and to distribute maintenance funds collected back to the customers (Texas City being one of them).
There is a current GCWA project at the reservoir that will be funded by the sale of bonds. GCWA's Bond Counsel is requiring resolutions or orders as evidence that each contract and each amendment has been approved by the respective customer. Although already properly approved by Texas City, this Resolution ratifies approval of the June 2011 contract amendment.
