ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Consider take action on Resolution No. 17-028, approving the annexation of undeveloped property, being developed as Marlow Lake, into Galveston County Municipal Utility District #31. (City Engineer)
BACKGROUND
GCMUD #31 was created in 2001 to provide a funding mechanism for water, sewer, and drainage improvements.for new subdivisions in Texas City. Currently, GCMUD #31 is serving the Rainsong, Lone Trail Village and Heron's Landing Subdivisions.
The Board Members of GCMUD #31 in cooperation with the developer of Marlow Lake is proposing to annex Marlow Lake into the Utility District, and are seeking consent from Texas City to do so. Being in GCMUD #31 will help the developer with financing water, sewer, and drainage improvements.
In a Development Agreement between Texas City and the developer of Marlow Lake (approved on September 21 2016), there is a provision requiring the City to cooperate with annexation of the subdivision into GCMUD #31. The attached documents have been prepared by the attorney for the MUD and sent to the City at the request of the MUD Board.
