PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The City Council approved a four-year agreement with Guardian Security for Library guard service on June 13, 2011. The agreement allows the City and Guardian to negotiate a new hourly rate for the service annually on the anniversary date of the agreement. For the second year of the agreement Guardian has proposed a new hourly rate of $17.90, which is a $.40 per hour, or approximately 2% increase over the current amount.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may
- approve the hourly rate of $17.90 for the second year of the four-year agreement with Guardian Security or
- not approve the hourly rate of $17.90 for the second year of the four-year agreement with Guardian Security.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The estimated annual cost for the second year of the four-year agreement is $72,960. The Library has sufficient funds in the proposed FY13 budget to cover the cost of the services.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the hourly rate of $17.90 for the second year of the four-year agreement with Guardian Security.
