RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommendation is to accept the FY21 Homeland Security Grant funds in the amount of $40,000 on behalf of the Billings Regional HazMat Team.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
The Billings Regional HazMat Team applied for the FY 21 Homeland Security Grant in order to sustain and update specialized HazMat equipment and supplies such as chemical protective clothing, gas monitoring equipment and sensors and upgrade existing portable radio communication system that is used in the field.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may approve or not approve accepting the $40,000 FY 21 Homeland Security Grant funds on behalf of the Billings Regional HazMat Team.
FISCAL EFFECTS
These funds will be used to sustain and update specialized HazMat equipment and supplies to continue responding to incidents involving hazardous materials with capabilities necessary to save lives, stabilize the incident and conserve property.
