BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
The Billings Police Department has been offered a grant from the State of Montana Department of Justice in the amount of $15,000. This grant provides funding to purchase a K-9.
The Billings Police Department has always had an aggressive role in illegal drug suppression. Our dogs often assist the many county, state and federal law enforcement entities located nearby. We are also often requested to provide narcotic sniffs at schools, airport, jails and parcel delivery services. They also do countless PR events within the region. Our K-9's are an integral part of our organization and the community.
