PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
On January 30, 2013, the Billings Fire Department was notified that a grant has been awarded for the purchase of two (2) VHF narrowband repeaters. This grant is a 100% Federal share grant awarded by the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, administered through the Montana Dept of Military Affairs/MT Disaster & Emergency Services Grants Bureau.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Accept the $36,000 grant through the Montana Department of Military Affairs/Montana DES Grants Program Bureau; or
- Not accept the $36,000 grant.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
With this 100% Federally funded grant, the Fire Department will replace the east and west VHF radio repeaters and make them narrowband compliant.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the $36,000 State Homeland Security Program Grant for the replacement of the east and west VHF repeaters.
