PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The property at 1146 Grand Avenue was purchased by the City of Billings on January 31, 2014. This property was necessary for the Grand Avenue Widening project from 8th Street West to 12th Street West and was part of the condemnation settlements. The City Public Works Department is in the process of selling this property. Before it can be sold, the necessary right of way for Grand Avenue must be taken off of this property by way of warranty deed.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may:
- Accept the warranty deed for the right of way on Grand Avenue which prepares the remaining parcel to be sold; or
- Do not accept the warranty deed and the property will continue to include portions of Grand Avenue.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no significant financial impact with acceptance of the warranty deed. The warranty deed is necessary to separate the right of way from the remainder and to allow the sale of that property.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends Council accept the warranty deed for the right of way adjacent to the parcel at 1146 Grand Avenue.
