PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
On April 9, 2012, the City Council approved a five-year contract with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. to provide all Civil Engineering services for the Airport, including project designs, surveys, development of project plans, specifications and bidding documents, and contract administration. The five-year term contract is amended each time a project is undertaken. Amendment 18 for $191,078 will provide all the services mentioned above for the 2015 Ramp Construction project. This project will replace a concrete aircraft parking apron on the north side of Runway 10L/28R, and adjacent to the BLM Tanker Base and IP-5 Maintenance Hangar. The existing concrete is nearly 50 years old and is breaking up, causing debris that can get kicked up by the force of aircraft propellers and causing damage to other aircraft. This project will remove the old concrete and replace it with new asphalt pavement. The scope of work and associated fees have been negotiated by staff and are acceptable for this engineering work.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve Amendment 18 for the Engineering services with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. for the 2015 Ramp Construction Project; or
- Decline to approve Amendment 18 with Morrison-Maierle, Inc., and advise staff on how to proceed.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Total cost of Amendment 18 is $191,078. This project is funded 90% with a FAA AIP Entitlement Grant and with 10% local match funds. The FAA's portion will be $171,970.20 and the City's match will be $19,107.80. Funding is available in the Airport's Capital account.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve Amendment 18 with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. for the Engineering Services associated with the Airport's 2015 Ramp Construction Project, for the amount of $191,078.
