The roof at Fire Station #2, located at 501 South 28th Street, has deteriorated, has numerous leaks and has been assessed to need full replacement.  Four (4) roofing contractors, identified below, submitted bids for the project. An Invitation for Bids was advertised in the Billings Times, Billings Builder's Exchange, and on the City's website and staff opened the bids on September 29, 2015.  This action will award the project to Ace Roofing, LLC in the amount of $89,755.00.

The roof was fully assessed by the Roofing Specialists at CTA Architects and Engineers and replacement is the only option to protect and preserve this facility.

City Council may:

• Approve the low bid from Ace Roofing, LLC for $89,755.00, or;
• Do not approve the low bid, reject all bids and provide direction to staff.

This roof replacement was not scheduled for FY 2016, so staff recommends using General Fund reserves to complete the project.  Staff will present a budget amendment request when the City Council considers other 2nd quarter budget amendments.  $11,459 is being used for design and construction administration services from CTA.

Staff recommends awarding this contract to Ace Roofing, LLC  for the amount of $89,755.00.
