PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
School District 2 (SD 2) is required to execute a development agreement with the City as a condition of annexing the property for the future Ben Steel Middle School. This development agreement outlines all of the offsite improvements that are required for the construction of the school. In particular, SD 2 will contribute to WO 16-09, which is going to widen Grand Avenue between 48th Street West and 58th Street West and will include traffic signal work and sidewalk construction throughout the area.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the development agreement, or;
- Disapprove the development agreement. If disapproved, SD 2 and City staff will negotiate a new development agreement that conforms to City Council directives.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The development agreement outlines the financial commitment that is required by the school district for off-site improvements.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the development agreement with School District 2 for Ben Steel Middle School.
