PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The City of Billings has contracted with Yellowstone County for many years to provide the Sheriff's Department with New World Public Safety access, disk storage, computer processing, program maintenance and operations to support its data processing requirements. Under an annual agreement, Information Technology bills the Sheriff's Office for the actual resources that were used in the prior calendar year. Council is being asked to approve the FY 2016-2017 agreement in the amount of $134,521.00
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The City Council may:
- Approve the annual agreement with Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department; or
- Not approve the annual agreement.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The annual charge for July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017, is $134,521. The prior year's charges were $131,315. The increase is a result of actual usage of the Public Safety System. Information Technology is an internal service fund, whose budget is dependent on charging customers for the services that it provides.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the agreement to provide FY16-17 data processing services for the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department in the amount of $134,521
