PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Staff received a inquiry from Mr. Lou Adler, a property owner of MK Subdivision, about changing the name of Payton Drive within that subdivision. The street is located near the intersection of Grand Avenue and 54th Street West. Payton Drive is a private street and its name didn't appear on the subdivision plat. There is currently a public street named Payton Trail in the Rehberg Ranch Estates Subdivision. There is currently no one addressed on this short section of Payton Drive. Attached is an exhibit of MK Subdivision that shows the street that needs to be renamed. The name proposed by the subdivision is Hawk Creek Avenue. As part of the street name change process, notice of the proposed name change and public hearing will be sent to all owners of record for properties abutting Payton Drive, west of 54th Street West.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may:
- Initiate a street name change and set a public hearing for July 10, 2017; or
- Do not initiate a street name change.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The City will incur nominal costs in advertising and sending notices for the public hearing.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council initiate a street name change for Payton Drive west of 54th Street West and set a public hearing for July 10, 2017.
