PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The $1,000.00 donation from the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 521 will purchase fire prevention public education supplies that contain a fire safety message and will be handed out to children during fire prevention week activities and throughout the year during public education events. City policy requires that any donation exceeding $500.00 must be accepted by the Council before the funds can be expended.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may approve or disapprove acceptance of the donation from IAFF Local 521.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Acceptance of this donation will allow the Fire Prevention Bureau to purchase additional public education supplies that will be given out at Fire Station Open Houses for Fire Prevention Week and during public education events throughout the year.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends accepting the $1,000.00 donation from IAFF Local 521 for the purchase of fire prevention public education supplies.
