PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Montana Code allows local governments to amend their fiscal year budgets by using the same method as used for the original budget adoption: public notice, public hearing and Council adopting a resolution. The following amendments are proposed for the FY 2018 Budget:
| Revenue | Expenditure | |||
| Fund 0100 - NonDepartmental | ||||
| This transfer is to cover the costs of hiring a Park Ranger. This will be a transfer to the Public Safety Fund. Available fund balance will be used to cover the costs of this amendment. | ||||
| 0100-14120-408253 | 140,000 | Transfer Out | ||
| Fund 1500 - Public Safety | ||||
| This budget amendment is to pay for the anticipated costs associated with a Park Ranger position. The estimated costs of Capital and Personal Services will be covered by a transfer in from the General Fund. | ||||
| 1500-15100-307515 | 140,000 | Transfer In | ||
| 1500-21110-401110 | 74,000 | Personal Services | ||
| 1500-21120-409490 | 66,000 | Capital Outlay | ||
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may: Approve the requested budget amendments; or Not approve the requested budget amendments. Disapproval of these amendments will limit the services that are provided in the Fiscal 2018 budget year.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The requested budget amendments will be funded by reserves or current revenue, as described in the budget resolution exhibits and above.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing and approve the resolution approving and adopting the budget amendments for the Fiscal Year 2018.
