PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The City staff and Bresnan Communications, LLC, (known as Charter) have been negotiating a cable television franchise agreement to replace one that expired July 9, 2017. The two groups request that the agreement be extended to Oct. 9, 2017, to allow completion of the negotiations.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the extension, or;
- Disapprove the extension.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cable franchise agreement is expected to produce about $1.5 million in revenue for Fiscal Year 2018.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approving the extension of the current franchise agreement to October 9, 2017.
