RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approves the utility easement for Rimrock West Park to allow Northwestern Energy to install new underground electric cables to upgrade area services.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
Northwestern Energy is requesting a ten-foot easement from the intersection of the Big Ditch Trail and 43rd Street West running along the North side of the trail going west through Rimrock West Park to the southwest corner and then North to Rangeview Drive. See Exhibit A in Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Lands Utility Right-of-Way Easement, Attachment A. See also Attachment B graphic. The purpose of the easement is to install an underground electric distribution line to upgrade services in the surrounding area.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the requested utility easement within Rimrock West Park; or,
- Not Approve the easement and provide staff with additional direction.
FISCAL EFFECTS
There will be no fiscal effects to the city.
