RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council award the one-year contract with 2 optional one-year extensions for snow hauling to K2 Civil Inc at the amount of $175.00 per hour/truck and driver, not to exceed $160,000 per year.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
Public Works utilizes the snow hauling services to supplement Street/Traffic crews with removing snow from the streets to clear snow from streets in a shorter amount of time. The FY22 snow hauling bid was advertised on October 8th and October 15th, 2021, in the Yellowstone County News and on the City's website. Bids were opened on October 19th and two bids were received. K2 Civil Inc. submitted the lowest, responsible bid.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the contract to K2 Civil, Inc.; or,
- Not approve the contract, which will result in longer lead times for snow to be cleared from streets after a storm.
