Approve an agreement with Justice EZ Trac, LLC to provide an automated E-Ticket system to facilitate communication between the Sheriff’s Office and its clients and collect payments from the clients.
Background:
The Sheriff’s Office was approached by EZ TRAC , LLC to implement an e-citation system within Cochise County. Three JP Courts have been using a portion of the system for several years and Bowie Justice Court has been using the entire system for approximately one year which includes the writing of the citation, notification to the court, payment of citation, and reporting of the citations to the State Supreme Court as required. EZ TRAC will provide the system at no cost to the Sheriff’s Office as well as the City Police Departments located within the jurisdiction of the participating JP Courts which include Bowie, Willcox, Bisbee & Douglas. The system consists of an android tablet that reads the violator’s drivers license and allows the Deputy or Officer, by use of drop down menus, to complete the citation that is then printed out on a portable printer. The benefits of this system include a decrease in the time involved in a traffic stop and a clean, legible citation provided to the courts.

Sign contract, attend user training, implement the e-citation system.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The Sheriff’s Office will continue with the current citation process. Lost opportunity for an increase in productivity with regard to traffic stops and more legible citations.
