Approve the Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) between Cochise County Juvenile Court Services and Educational Options Foundation (Ed Options) for program equipment for online education from September 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
Background:
Ed Options provides online education. Program staff funding is provided by the Arizona Supreme Court and the Department of Education. Program equipment is funded by the Arizona Supreme Court, Ed Options and the Department of Education. The population served is primarily made up of youth who are on Juvenile Probation or from the public that have not or cannot function in a regular school setting due to behavioral or criminal activity. There is no matching funds required of Cochise County per the MOU.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Continue to provide educational services to youth who are on Probation or others that cannot function in a regular school setting.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
No money for equipment that provides connectivity for the educational services, thus resulting in reduced effectiveness in serving the public and youthful offenders.

Anticipate $6000 or possibly more in funding from this agreement as based upon juvenile population enrolled for this education progtram. This foundation is providing reveniue based on enrollment thru Ccochise County Juvenile Court Services connectivity equipment. These funds are projected to cover equipment costs to sustain this program.
