Appoint Mr. Carlos De La Torre, P.E. as the Cochise County Zoning Inspector to provide official sanction for him to take action (authorized by the Zoning Regulations) to ensure compliance with or to prevent violations of the Zoning Regulations; the Zoning Inspector is defined as the Planning Director or duly authorized representative, who together with his or her duly authorized representatives, are tasked with enforcing the provisions of the County's Zoning Regulations.
Background:
Mr. De La Torre was hired on 1 November to replace Benny Young, former Community Development Director and Zoning Inspector; however, Mr. De La Torre has yet to be provided official sanction to act as County Zoning Inspector. Mr. Jim Vlahovich, Deputy County Administrator, was appointed as Zoning Inspector in the interim, on 7/27/10.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Mr. De La Torre would have official sanction to ensure compliance with, or to prevent violations of the Zoning Regulations.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Without appointing a duly authorized representative, the Planning Director would be recognized as the County Zoning Inspector.
