Agenda Item Text:

Approve a contract amendment to Contract No. 07-31-HFP-2A with A.G.E Contracting, Inc. adding the Dragoon County-owned Pit to the list of County-owned Pits to be used for Crushing Aggregate.

Background:

On June 15, 2010 the Board of Supervisors approved the renewal of Contract No. 07-31-HFP-02A with A.G.E. Contracting for Crushing Aggregate at various pits in Cochise County. When this contract was initially bid and awarded the Dragoon pit was not listed. Because of the lack of availability for aggregate base course for projects in Willcox, Sunsites, and Benson, a determination was made to use the Dragoon Pit for this material which would result in a better price for the material and transportation using County vehicles. A.G.E. Contracting is the closest vendor geographically and offered a competitive price for crushing comparable to their bid pricing on Contract No. 07-31-HFP-2A for other pits. Because the Dragoon pit is not specified in the contract, a contract addendum is required to comply with the requirements of the procurement code.

The pricing offered by A.G.E. Contracting is as follows:

Description                       Quantity           Price/Ton           Total Amount

Recycled Concrete              900                $6.28                  $5,652
Aggregate Base Course     24,100            $4.72                 $113,752

Total Amount                                                                       $119,752

This amount is included in the $280,000 contract amount approved by the Board of Supervisors on June 15, 2010.
