Agenda Item Text:
Approve the State Aid Enhancement Grant for the Adult Probation Department for Fiscal Year 2014/2015 in the amount of $688,384 effective July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
Background:
The State Aid Enhancement grant provides funding for 12.65 positions, 10 of which are probation officer positions. The grant allows us to promote public safety by supervising approximately 468 probationers throughout Cochise County.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the grant will continue to fund 10 probation officer positions as well as 2.65 non-case carrying positions in our department.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If the grant is not approved, we will not be able to fund the probation officer positions, thus causing a safety concern for our communities.
