Information
Agenda Item Text:
Approve Contract 2015-PT-008 between the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and the Cochise County Sheriff's Office for overtime and employee related expenses to conduct educational activities and traffic enforcement designed to reduce crashes and injuries caused by aggressive driving and other traffic violations in the amount of $10,000 effective October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015.
Background:
The Cochise County Sheriff's Office receives yearly funding from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety designed to educate and enforce our citiizens on safe driving habits. This enforcement includes all traffic violations but especially targets aggressive driving and violations in more dangerous areas such as school zones. The funds also provide for educational activities during safety and community events.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
The Sheriff's Office will continue to provide education and enforcement within the county communities.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The Sheriff's Office will not be able to conduct many of these higher profile activities due to shortage of overtime funding.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Upon approval, please return both signed copies to the Sheriff's Office so they can be sent to the Director of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety for final approval.
