Agenda Item Text:

Adopt Resolution 14-75 approving the proposed schedule of fees and reimbursements for election services provided by the Elections Department effective November 14, 2014.

Background:

Cochise County Elections is requesting the adoption of a new fee schedule for charging cities, school districts and special districts.  It is the same schedule as the one adopted in 2010 by the Board with one minor exception.  The Department is requesting a one-time $500 fee to cover costs involved if a recount/hand count is required, which is a rare occurrence.   This change has already been included and incorporated in a number of IGA’s; in fact, any IGA which was  entered into since 2010.    However, to be consistent, the IGA’s should reflect the adopted fee schedule of the Board of Supervisors.  To the best of our knowledge, there have been no recounts involving any of these entities in the last two years.  The cost is consistent with the practice of charging other jurisdictions for the actual costs to the County for services provided.   Accordingly, it is recommended that the Resolution be adopted incorporating the above change effective 30 days after approval by the Board of Supervisors.
