Agenda Item Text:

Accept the County Engineer's recommendation to establish Ramsey Canyon Multi-Use Path as described therein, and establish that segment of Ramsey Canyon Road as a Declared County Highway and schedule a public hearing for December 16, 2014.

Background:

As per a Board of Supervisors Funds project, an inquiry was received regarding the feasibility of a Multi Use Path along Ramsey Canyon Road to connect the existing Cherokee Avenue multi-use path that ends at Ramsey Canyon Road, to a Forest trailhead parking area approximately 1.1 miles to the west and southwest. The proposed path will be 10 feet in width, and due to overhead utilities the proposed right-of-way will be 23-32 feet in width. The proposed path will require crossing Ramsey Canyon Creek and the design utilizes a concrete dip crossing similar to the existing Cherokee Avenue multi-use path. In order to facilitate improvements proposed through District 1 Board of Supervisors Funds, this path segment must now be established as a Declared County Highway. The action before you today is acceptance of the Engineer’s recommendation and scheduling a public hearing to declare this segment as a County Highway in accordance with statutory requirements.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Upon acceptance of the County Engineer’s recommendation, a public hearing will be scheduled and advertised as required by statute.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

That portion of Ramsey Canyon Multi Use Path will not be established as a County highway and creation of the path may be in conflict with state statutes.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Once signed, please return the public notice to H & F, attn: Pam Hudgins. Right of Way staff will submit for advertising.
