Ratify the approval of a letter of support from the Board of Supervisors to the Department of Veterans Affairs regarding the "Housing for Heroes" Project in Cochise County.
Background:
Arizona has the highest number of homeless veterans among the states, and NCHP is working toward the same mission expressed by the State Department of Veterans Affairs, which is to alleviate the plight of what has become the most vulnerable group of people likely to become homeless.
The Board applauds the efforts of NCHP, an organization that has provided health education and supportive services to low-income and underserved populations since its incorporation in 1984, and supports its project “Housing for Heroes” and the efforts to expand services in Cochise, which has no present Representation by an organization that provides transitional housing services for veterans.
