Agenda Item Text:
Briefing by Norm Sturm, Cochise County's Emergency Services Coordinator, on Governor Janice Brewer's November 12, 2014 State Emergency Declaration for Cochise County.
Background:
On September 17-19, 2014, Cochise County experienced torrential rains and damaging flooding throughout the County. The Board signed a County Emergency Declaration on September 24 and requested a State Emergency Declaration for the event. A State declaration would potentially open the door to public assistance (PA) funding to reimburse up to 75% of local government expenditures for public infrastructure repair and some emergency response-related costs. On November 12, 2014, the Governor signed an Emergency Declaration for the Odile event and approved PA funding.
