Background:

This agreement is a continuing annual event between Cochise County and the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services. This agreement provides for a Wildlife Specialist to be assigned to Cochise County to manage damage caused by wild and feral animals to livestock, agriculture comodities, and the public health. The Wildlife Specialist also works with Sheriff's Office Animal Control Officers. The total cost of the position and equipment is $69,195, $34,337 of which is borne by the USDA, thus making the County's portion of the costs $34,858. This agreement has been budgeted from the General Fund for the past several years. This agreement has been approved as to form by Lauri Owen of the County Attorney's Office.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Continue with the services as provided to mitigate predators and health issues related to animals within the county.
