Agenda Item Text:
Approve an Intergovernmental Agreement between Tombstone Unified School District (TUSD) and the Cochise County Board of Supervisors (BOS) which will provide for a Technology Integration Specialist (TIS) who will be housed and report to the County School Superintendent.
Background:
The Statewide Instructional Technology (SIT) Grant provides funds for salary and benefits for a Technology Integration Specialist who serves the school districts in Cochise County. For the past eight years, we have had an IGA with Ft. Huachuca Accommodation School District (FHASD) to reimburse them for the salary and benefits of one of their teachers who was assigned to work for us. She has decided to return to the classroom and Ben Reyna, a teacher in Tombstone, has accepted the TIS position. We are entering into the same agreement that we had with FHASD. Ben will be paid by TUSD, will work for the CSS and will be able to return to the classroom at the end of the grant period. The IGA was reviewed and revised by Terry Bannon in the County Attorney's office and is on the agenda to be approved by the TUSD Governing Board.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Provide support for the TIS.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
No TIS to provide services for our schools
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
