Approve Resolution 11-33 showing support for the Statewide Strategic Communication Initiative (SACCNet) to provide a secure county to county, county to state video/voice/data Secure Intranet network, while providing redundant Telco and data communications throughout the State of Arizona to the public/private sector.
Background:
SACCNet is a statewide strategic communication initiative to provide a secure county to county , county to state video/voice/data Secure Intranet network, while providing redundant Telco and data communications throughout the State of Arizona to the public/private sector.
The SACCNet Committe is asking that all participating Counties sign a resolution showing support for the project.
In Brief, the resolution intent is to:
- Establish a County Initiative for Emergency Communication direction on a statewide platform.
- Recognize the mutually beneficial and dependent relationship of public and private entities relating to emergency communications.
- Escalate the SACCNet project to emergency services level.
- Validate project as a County Emergency Service to provide grant funding.
- Provide justification for use of County resources, where economically feasible and in the best interest of the County, to support a public/private initiative that provides benefits in both the County government and education domains.
- Recognize the vulnerability of our rural communities as it relates to redundant communications both commercial and emergency services.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the County will just need to sign the resolution and no other steps are required at this time.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The County will not be able to take advantage of the potential cost savings and redundancies by leveraging the SACCNet.
