Agenda Item Text:
Approve contract 2017-II-005 between Cochise County and the Governor's Office of Highway Safety in the amount of $34,920 for overtime and employee related expense funds for the DUI/Impaired Driving and Youth Alcohol Enforcement Program effective October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017.
Background:
These are recurring funds that are awarded by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety to allow law enforcement officers to participate in enforcement of impaired/distracted driving laws as well as youth alcohol enforcement and community and educational events throughout the year. These funds cover the overtime as well as the employee related expenses. This contract has been approved as to form by the County Attorney's Office.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Continue to conduct enforcement and educational and community activities to combat impaired and distracted driving as well as youth alcohol enforcement throughout the county.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Funding to conduct these types of enforcement and educational activities will not be available or will have to come out of the general fund.
