Approve the purchase of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Caterpillar repair parts from Empire Machinery in the not to exceed amount of $117,000 for the Heavy Fleet Management Department for the period of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.
Background:
The Heavy Fleet Management Department is required to purchase Caterpillar OEM repair parts and equipment to maintain their fleet of heavy equipment vehicles. OEM Caterpillar parts and equipment are only available through Empire Machinery, the authorized Caterpillar distributor for this area. Empire offers discounts of 20-60 percent off the manufacturer’s list price for these purchases.
Because the annual expenditures exceed $50,000, Board of Supervisors approval is required for these purchases.
