Approve the award of Invitation for Bids (IFB) No. 11-39-FAC-03 for the purchase and installation of a generator from AJP Electric in the amount of $58,585.00.

Background:

IFB No. 11-39-FAC-03 was released on June 14, 2011. The bid was advertised in the San Pedro Valley News on June 22 & 29, 2011 and posted on the County website. Bid notices were mailed to eighteen (18) vendors. A pre-bid meeting was held at the job site on July 13, 2011. Four bids were received prior to the bid due date and time of July 26, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. as follows:

AJP Electric, Phoenix, AZ $58,585.00
Castro Electric, Sierra Vista, AZ $63,820.00
Gilbert Electric, Tucson, AZ $64,648.00
Sabino Electric, Tuscon, AZ $69,993.00

AJP is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder meeting all the requirements of the bid.

Sign contract, issue purchase order, coordinate delivery and installation.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

There will be no back up generator to power the jail and Sheriff’s office should the existing generator fail.
