Agenda Item Text:

Approve Amendment to Contract with County Administrator Edward Gilligan.

Background:

On February 28, 2017, the Board approved a contract with Edward Gilligan as County Administrator.  The term of the contract was for two years but provided as follows:  "On or before March 1, 2018, the Board of Supervisors, following an evaluation of Administrator, shall determine whether to extend this Agreement by one year, which determination shall be acknowledged in writing by the Board and Administrator."

The contract further provides:  "The Administrator shall be paid a gross annual salary of $145,000 per year. The Board of Supervisors may determine that a higher amount is appropriate based on the Administrator’s annual evaluation and performance."

Now that the Board has completed Mr. Gilligan's evaluation, the Board must determine whether to extend the contract for one year and whether it is appropriate to pay him a higher amount.

The draft First Amendment to the Agreement with Mr. Gilligan, if approved, would extend the contract for an additional year and provide for an increase in salary to $159,500.
