Agenda Item Text:
Approve the recommendation of the County Treasurer for the abatement of property taxes and interest on personal property and the removal of personal property tax liens on Treasurer's Certificates of Clearance Nos. 2018-002 to 2018-036.
Background:
Pursuant to A.R.S. § 42-19118, after a diligent search by this Office and the Sheriff's Department, we have determined that the property that was subject to the taxes was removed, destroyed and no longer has any real value that would warrant collection. We are requesting to abate property on the Treasurer's Certificate of Clearance No. 2018-002 to 2018-036, the authority to delete the taxes from the collection list.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, sign the Treasurer's Certificate of Clearance No. 2018-002 to 2018-036, and return copy to Treasurer’s office.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Cost of pursuing the collection procedures of personal property would continue to increase with no return revenue.
