Agenda Item Text:
Presentation to the Board of Supervisors and "open house" of the Sheriff's Office new Mobile Command Post.
Background:
In July 2010 Governor Brewer, through the Governor's Office of Economic Recovery, awarded a $1,600,000 grant to the Sheriff's Office as part of the Border Secuirty Enhancement Program. This funding was utilized to create the Sheriff's Office Border Interdiction Team (BIT) and to purchase vehicles and equipment. One of the items purchased was a 2012 model Freightliner M2-106, 35 foot long, diesel powered mobile command post vehicle. The total cost of the vehicle, complete with radios and other electronic components, was approximately $300,000. The acquistion of this mobile command post will allow the Sheriff's Office to establish Incident Command almost anywhere in Cochise County with complete radio, telephone, and computer capability.
The Mobile Command Post will be available for inspection/tour immediately after the meeting of the Board of Supervisors.
