Agenda Item Text:

Approve a change order to the Stantec Consulting Services contract for the Douglas Port of Entry Water/Wastewater Engineering Study, in the amount of $39,912, effective May 5, 2020.

Background:

On March 10, 2020, the Board approved the contract with Stantec Consulting Services for a water/wastewater engineering study for the proposed new port of entry in Douglas. The original proposal for the feasibility report assumed that the City of Douglas would have hydraulic modeling in place and a current water report. Through discussions with the City, we have learned that such a model does not exist, but is strongly needed for future planning. Stantec will perform work as necessary to prepare a hydraulic model of the Douglas water system(s) and use that model to analyze proposed improvements and future growth to determine infrastructure requirements. The model will be retained by the City of Douglas and updated as needed by City staff.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Send approved change order to Stantec to begin the model project with the City of Douglas.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

The hydraulic model is an important component to the overall engineering study. Without this model, the study recommendations will be hindered.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Follow up with Procurement to create requisition for the Change Order for approval.
