Approve $78,398.88 from the 2019 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant to support equipment purchases for the Countywide Hazardous Materials Response Team, effective May 5, 2020.
Background:
This grant is a three year grant and about to come to a close. Cochise County OES applied for residual funding to purchase equipment in support of the Countywide Hazardous Materials Response Team. The team is a multi-jurisdictional / multi-agency organization that responds to HAZMAT emergencies in the County and participates as a regional response resource with the Southern Arizona HAZMAT Response Team. This is the second purchase made on this grant by the county.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Order equipment for use during training events.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Grant funds will be returned to the state and likely go unused in the grant performance period.
