Agenda Item Text:
Approve Grant #AZ-H2001W033 for the Housing Authority of Cochise County HOPWA CARES Act Program, in the amount of $68,198, effective July 2020 to June 2023; and ratify HUD Forms SF424 and SF424D dated May 29, 2020 submitted for the grant application.
Background:
This is a supplemental grant to the existing Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) administered by the Housing Authority of Cochise County (HACC). The funds are a one-time award for HOPWA-eligible households impacted by COVID-19 and may be used for Short term rent, mortgage, and utility assistance payments to prevent homelessness for a period of up to 24 months. Funds may be used to provide relocation services for eligible persons or their household members not living with HIV/AIDS. HACC receives household referrals from the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF).
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the Housing Authority of Cochise County will immediately begin offering the services to HOPWA-eligible households who have been impacted by COVID-19.
